Big St. Germain Lake District

Big St Germain Lake is located northwest of downtown St. Germain and has 1617 acres of surface area and a maximum depth of 42'. Big St Germain Lake is connected to Lake Content and Fawn Lake for additional water exploration and recreation. It is known for fabulous fishing and a gorgeous sand shoreline on much of the lake. The spring fed water of Lake Content flows into Big St Germain Lake which also receives waters from Lost Creek, Plum Creek and Mud Creek. The waters of Big St. Germain Lake flow into Fawn Lake and after the dam on Fawn Lake, the waters flow into the Big St Germain River and eventually to Pickerel Lake.

The Big St. Germain Area Lakes District (BSGALD) was formed in 2008 by a majority vote of all lake property owners and the Vilas County Board of Supervisors. The BSGALD was formed to preserve Big St. Germain, Content and Fawn lakes great environmental quality and to guard against any of the aquatic invasive species present in Vilas County or elsewhere in the surrounding areas that might be transported to these lakes to damage existing water quality or biotic structure. The BSGALD maintains a vigorous program of boat inspection at the public boat landing in Big St. Germain Lake which is the only public landing on the three lakes. It also receives and reviews water quality reports and oversees the supply of, installation and removal of safety buoys on the three lakes.

The BSGALD holds quarterly meetings of the District Supervisors and Representatives and holds its Annual Meeting in August of each year at a date announced by mailing to all district property owners.
